Feed Your Brain! 08/21/2010
Truely, there are nutrients that are critical for the optimum performance of brain activity. There are also studies that indicate the possibility that some nutrients can stave off Alzheimer's and a slew of other physical/psychological problems. This article isn't going in that direction. What I would like to bring to your attention is that when it comes to books about food, think outside the cookbook. Definately, there is a cookbook for every kind of food you can find on the face of the planet, and then some. But, what I think we need to realize is that there is a wealth of books, countless, that informs and educates, and can be very interesting reading, that helps us to understand more clearly how the food we eat and the food industry interacts. Most people are not going to reach for books on this subject when selecting something to whet their appetite, but I promise, when you sample one or two books on the subject of where our food comes from and why, you will get a taste of one of the most controversial subjects facing our planet, food production and consumption. I am not a food activist, by any means, but I do believe that we, as consumers, and we, as food providers, which we all are on some level, need to give some thought to the subject. I have provided a link that simply demonstrates a variety of books that approach food as an intellectual delicacy. These books were randomly selected and can be purchased from the website but I am not promoting any one book and I am not asking you to purchase any of them. I use this site with its list of books for demonstration only. Bon Apetit! http://store.thestoreforhealthyliving.com/merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=TEWS&Category_Code=FFP Add Comment |
